About

My name is Heather Church and like most of us, I am multi-faceted with many interests and roles . . . mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, yogini, outdoor enthusiast, runner, yoga teacher, writer and web strategist. But it's the last three in the list that I'll talk to you about because that's likely why you're visiting this site.

Yoga Teacher

I came to yoga in 1998 as a way to quiet the mind and strengthen my body. After the first practice I knew I had found something deeper than poses on a sticky mat. Always on a quest for knowledge, I began to dive deeper into both asana and yogic philosophy.

In 2006, I enrolled in Shiva Shakti Synthesis Yoga Teacher Training (Integrative Yoga Therapy) and became certified to teach at the 200 hour level through the National Yoga Alliance. After my training was complete I continued to work full-time, but inside something else was calling out to me. Ready to make a drastic change in my personal and professional life, in 2008 I left that employment to teach yoga and at the same time rediscovered my long lost love of writing - more passionate writing anyway.

Trainings and certifications:

  • Integrative Yoga Therapy Teacher Certification (2007)
  • 200 Hour RYT through the National Yoga Alliance (since 2007) ongoing CEUs
  • Certified Storytime Yoga Teacher (2009)
  • Prenatal Yoga Teacher Certification (2010)
  • 90 Minutes to Change the World Teacher Training with Amy Ippoliti (2011)
  • Leslie Kaminoff's Yoga Anatomy Course (2011 ~ currently enrolled)
  • B.S. in Interpersonal Communication: Concentration in Health and Social Sciences
  • I teach from a place of creating awareness, acceptance and mindfulness
  • All levels of students are welcome

Writer

I've written professionally for nearly twenty years. During my tenure as a social services professional in county government and for a local non-profit agency, I wrote policy, procedure, manuals, training curriculum, educational brochures, web and news articles, press releases, RFPs, grants and more. As I transitioned into teaching yoga as a profession, I published online articles about yoga and green living with the Examiner, Associated Content, and for Integrative Yoga Therapy sites.

Currently I write around the web. I've had articles featured in Elephant Journal, Barefoot Running and Teachasana. I've performed ghost writing services for yoga teachers and other healing professionals. I write exceptional web copy, blogs, direct mail pieces, radio and television ads and more for a variety of industries. I can write for you! Let me know your needs.

Web Strategy

I provide consultation and web strategy services to yoga teachers and other professionals in the healing modalities. As a yoga teacher, I understand the language necessary to convey your message accurately - and with heartfelt meaning - on the web. I also work for a wonderful company that builds websites called Grey Suit Retail. But Grey Suit Retail is much more than a web development company - it's an online platform that allows you to build a beautiful, engaging and informative website with the ability to update and change it frequently and easily. You'll also get one-on-one exceptional customer service from yours truly!
